DIY Potholder Loom – Easy and Fun to Make! Great as gifts too.
Admittedly, I have reverted to my childhood. As the holidays approach I feel more and more nostalgic. Does anyone else feel this way? When I spotted this bag of weaving loops at the craft store, I was immediately transported in time. My Grandma Irma was the very first person to introduce me to crafting and handmade items. When I was about six-years-old she taught me how to create a DIY potholder loom – and I was hooked!
Not much has changed over the decades. This loom kit looks just like the one from my youth, and it includes everything you need.
Colorful loops, weaving loom and hook.
Supplies:
- Cotton Weaving Loop Kit
- Extra Cotton Loops
- Crochet hook, if you prefer it
- Loom and Hook
The package also includes detailed directions. If you’re like me, I am a visual learner. Plus I find this method to be more quick. I found this great YouTube video to help me out. It’s a bit long, but very detail oriented. Feel free to fast-forward to the parts of instruction that you need. Being that I love blue, I pulled out loops that were blue and white. The bag has lots of assorted colors.
Each potholder loom used 36 loops.
You crochet hook the outer edges to keep the potholder loom together.
These pads are perfect for the kitchen.
Being that they are made from cotton loops, they hold up very well.
I have used mine as hot pads as well as potholders. Also, these will make for perfect gifts. I have created several of these, all while watching television at night.
